I’ve been updating the Portfolio page and added a sequence from my feature documentary on the 761st “Black Panther” Tank Battalion.

Working on this documentary made me a better writer, with the difference being you shoot to write rather than write to shoot (as you do in narrative projects). I directed this sequence to illustrate the accomplishments of the 761st Tank Battalion in WWII, placing them within the context of the global relief felt when the Allies won the war, in order to convey how painful it was to return to America as second class citizens. Our use of stock footage, photos from the families, custom graphics and maps, and what I hope is a poignant score, all combined to put the audience in the shoes of the 13 soldiers we had the pleasure of interviewing.
